By using the ratchet, you have simply to loosen this bolt, and let the old oil drain out into your oil “catch” or recycling container. Next, using the oil filter wrench, you will have to loosen and remove the old oil filter. Before you put the new one on, though, be sure to fill it about two-thirds full of new oil. You can then proceed to the next step: putting the new filter on. It is very important not to tighten it too tight, but also be sure not to leave it too loose! Then, simply add some more of the new oil, filling your vehicle to about the two-thirds capacity mark, and allow it to settle. After it’s had some time to settle, check the oil level. If the dipstick shows your engine being at two thirds full, then add the rest of the new oil. If this doesn’t fix the problem that your car is having concerning its oil, then it’s an excellent time to look for a professional. For most people, though, this will make a huge difference. And being able to do some of the work yourself is one of the best kinds of car insurance that anyone can have!
